Mrs. Chase's Schedule for the Week
We are beginning UNIT 2- adding and subtracting two-digit numbers, reading and writing three-digit numbers, fact fluency, comparing numbers, number patterns to 1,000 in addition and subtraction.
This week's skill is add/subtracting two-digit numbers.
Our new series requires a lot of writing and explanation with math vocabulary. I will teach and model this in class daily. Students also work 20-30 minutes daily on IXL, Xtra Math, or I-Ready lessons.(chromebooks)
Please have your child work on IXL, Xtra math, and soon I-Ready skills at home as much as possible. Thank you!
Language Arts Block is for 90+ minutes daily. During that time we will work on: Working with Words (Spelling Words or phonics skill of the Week ) , Reading (guided reading, AR, shared reading, reading skills, etc.), SSR (sustained silent reading), Choral Reading, Flocabulary, and Daily Writing Summary.
No FLUENCY this week.
Please have your child to read the weekly story or AR book each night. (partner read, read silently, read a page or two aloud for fluency and word attack skills, etc.) Also focus on the highlighted vocabulary in the reading book for the test. Questions at the end of the story are great for parents to see if they comprehend the story.
Our story this week is , Life Cycle of a Pumpkin.
No test this week. We will be walking to get pumpkins Wednesday afternoon. *More information to come.
Health, Science, and Social Studies
Daily Mystery Doug videos... We are beginning Chapter 2 -Technology and Tools in Science.
Students are sharing science experiements ( not a requirement). They will receive a POP if presented in class.
